I am a lawyer (judge advocate) in the military and a childhood victim of juvenile-on-juvenile sexual assault. I have served as both a prosecutor and a Special Victims' Counsel, representing adult and child victims of sexual assault. As a Special Assistant United States Attorney, I saw firsthand the terrible impact of failing to protect military children and families who are victims of juvenile-on-juvenile sexual assault. It will take empathy, and a healthy dose of moral courage, to bring about much needed change. -RL
